I heard the question "Where are the alligators" about every 10 minutes on the boat trip. From Tator. Sigh... And yes you will get to see pictures of alligators... tomorrow!!! Gotta keep you coming back for more.

Off to the Everglades

Folks, it is 6am. I am tired. I did NOT want to get up. But we are leaving at 7am to go to the Everglades. Just a quick hello to let you know we are alive. But barely.

Let's just hope the kids don't cry the whole way (and this includes my hubby) or the temptation to feed them to an alligator might just set in... ;-)

Put That Up

Nothing like trying to get yourself breakfast when your oldest son comes to talk to you about getting a shirt on and you turned to look at him.... and he has his pj shirt off, and his pe-nis hanging out. The bottoms are pulled down just enough. Sigh.

As you tell him to go get clothes and get dressed, he runs around the house yelling. Now if I could just get him to go get those clothes. Instead he comes running back telling me he is na-ked. Oh yaa... this is going to be a long morning... is my coffee ready yet????

How the Garden Grows

Hmpf. The garden is finished but I didn't get pictures. I thought I was going to fall over in the heat. I must be out of my mind. Doing this just so my kids can see their plants grow. Next time, I'm just sticking those suckers in the ground. Pumpkins, cucumbers and broccoli. Like any of it will survive in this heat...

Anyways... here are the pictures from when we got the first garden planted (Tater's garden).. yes, they are too close together, but I don't expect them to make it. And if they do, I will then them out some more...

Nuts... I must be certifiably nuts...

Tot's Busy Week

Me? Of course I am small enough to fit in half a box. Ohhhh... you mean without bending it out of shape... that's a different matter.

= = = = = =

Why won't Happy Dog eat my 'pretend' food in this bowl. Geeze...

I'm m.a.d. at mommy. I'll sit in here and mope until I feel like getting out.

Need to Meet to Eat?

Found this POST over at Random Thoughts from Marybeth.

She talks about Equidistant Eats... which allows you to enter multiple addresses and find a centrally located restaurant. Very cool.

Check it out and see if it works for you!

An Artist

Not me! Tink, my sister. She made the following 'scrapbook page' just for fun. I think it is wonderful. I took out the kids names so it may look a little odd near the date. Definitely you need to click to enlarge it.

= = = = =

Nope, I am not the artistic one in the family. I have tried to get her to blog but I can also see her changing her blog look every week. She'd never get a post written. ;-)

Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

After the egg hunt on Easter Sunday, the young farm boy decided to play a prank. He went to the chicken coop and replaced every single egg with a brightly colored one.

A few minutes later the rooster walked in, saw all the colored eggs, then stormed outside and beat up the peacock.

Oldie but Goodie...

Donald Duck and Daisy Duck were spending the night together in a hotel room and Donald wanted to have s.x with Daisy.

The first thing Daisy asked was, "Do you have a condom?

"Donald frowned and said "No."

Daisy told Donald that if he didn't get a condom, they could not have s.x.

"Maybe they sell them at the front desk," she suggested. So Donald went down to the lobby and asked the hotel clerk if they had condoms.

"Yes, we do," the clerk said, and pulled one out from under the counter and gave it to Donald.

The clerk asked, "Would you like me to put that on your bill?

"No!" Donald quacked, "What kind of a pervert do you think I am?"

Did you see this at Harvey's site? It ranks the popularity of your name by year. In the 1960's you were 69. What a claim to fame!

Made the Call

Yes I did call Bou and tell her the chocolates were 50% off. Including the 2 foot tall DARK chocolate bunny. It was still there. And if it is still there when they go 75% off... she is in big trouble. GRIN.

Good thing they had some stuff left.. I was getting ready to raid my hubby's basket. Even if it was that 'milk chocolate' stuff. ;-)

Lazy? Moi?

Ok... it has been a fun time but busy time. And by the time the evening rolls around, I'm beat. Not much posting getting done. My sister, Tink, was nice enough to send me this picture:

That's right. That's my mom trying to help her GreatGrandson B get a kite in the air. Wish I just could have been there to enjoy watching it as much as I have enjoyed this picture.

More later! Well... as soon as I can get enough time to upload the pictures and write the stories. This week we are off to Busch Wildlife, the Science Museum and more. If I can just take a breath and write about it all..

Chocolate

If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.

Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices & strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

The problem: How to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the store in hot car. The solution: Eat it in the parking lot.

Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It'll take the edge off your appetite and You'll eat less.

A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Isn't that handy?

If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with YOu?

If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves.

If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don't they actually counteract each other?

Money talks. Chocolate sings.

Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger.

Q. Why is there no such organization as Chocoholics Anonymous?
A. Because no one wants to quit.

If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top pantyhose. An entire garment industry would be devastated.

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done.

Beach Time

M went to the beach for 3 hours yesterday. We talked again about keeping suntan lotion on your body. And I must say I was happy when I saw her and she didn't look burned. Phew. Then we went for a walk last night... uhhhh... right behind her knees was burned. Both legs.

Could have been worse! Glad she is getting that tan she wants. Nothing like going back to school and having a great tan to show off. Particularly when you just turn 16.

Lion Country Safari Pictures

Finally got the photos uploaded from our trip. There are a total of 19 pictures. Be sure to read the sign in the Lion picture. I hope you enjoy the zebra picture. There were too many times when we got stopped by animals crossing the road... at least the rhino didn't go after us! And yes, that is me with the boys at the alligator picture. M was never able to get all of us looking up at one time.

Never tried the 'Flipbook' option of ImageShack before (it will randomly select 5 pictures and let you see them... changes everytime you come to the site)... let me know what you think:

And while I'm at it, I have never tried the 'slideshow' option of ImageShack before... so let me know what you think about this one as well:

It wouldn't let me put all the pictures in the same one easily... so here are the rest of the pictures:

From Lion Country Safari to Dr appointments to school to music to the mall to making cupcakes and the list just keeps going. Today is Dr. appt, breakfast with Bou, Easter Party, phone store and... hmmm... I forgot something.

I have some great pictures to post soon. Just not enough time in the day to get it done.

A quick story about Tater. When we were leaving the mall, he asked M to carry him because he was tired. She said ok, and picked him up. It started to sprinkle as we were walking to the car, so Tater put his hands over her head to protect her like an umbrella. And then he wanted to open her door for her. What a good boy he is getting to be!

Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

A young woman in New York was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the East River.

She went down to the docks and was about to leap into the frigid water when a handsome young sailor saw her tottering on the edge of the pier, crying. He took pity on her and said, "Look, you have so much to live for. I'm off to Hawaii in the morning, and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship. I'll take good care of you and bring you food every day."

Moving closer, he slipped his arm around her shoulder and added, "I'll keep you happy, and in return, you'll keep me happy."

The girl nodded yes. After all, what did she have to lose? Perhaps a fresh start in Hawaii would give her life new meaning. That night, the sailor brought her aboard and hid her in a lifeboat. From then on, every night he brought her three sandwiches and a piece of fruit, and they made passionate love until dawn.

Three weeks later, during a routine inspection, she was discovered by the Captain. "What are you doing here?" the Captain asked.

"I have an arrangement with one of the sailors,"she explained. "I get food and a trip to Hawaii, and he's screwing me."

"He certainly is," the Captain said. "This is the Staten Island Ferry."

Stinky Stuff, Grandkids, Oh My

While M is here, I cannot help but make comments to her about what is going on around here. We both have gotten a good laugh at my commentary, so I thought I would share a couple of them with you... it is 'me' speaking for 'her' to 'her mom'...

Mom, you aren't going to believe what just happened! Tater was going the bathroom... he left the door open and started to shout about how stinky it was. AND... when any one went by, they would say 'PPPP UUUUUU that stinks'.

Mom, these people are crazy. They take me to the beach for a cookout and then tell me how wonderful it is that it rained! Not only that, after the rain stopped and we went back to the beach... they made me put more sunscreen on. Really!! The sun wasn't even out, it was cloudy. I questioned it, but they really said I had to put it on.

Mom, we played the 'Game of Life'. And when VW's hubby landed on one about Grandchildren... well I just had to question the fact that he had NO children in his car to start with... where did these 'grandchildren' come from? Bad enough he made his wife ride in the very back of the car the whole time but this as well?

Having M here is great. She plans on continuing in Mathematics and is looking into Computer Programming. Oh yaaa!!! She plays Sudoku in her spare time. And that makes me happy. My hubby just shook his head and said there is another geek in the house. GRIN

She Came Bringing Gifts

My friend's daughter arrived safe and sound. Which was hard to believe because a car on I-95 tried to side swipe us... but we made it. And she brought gifts. The kids love them.

= = = = =

Mom on the other hand has a thought or two on this gift giving business. Policia cars with sirens, flashing lights and people shouting are certainly a great gift... if it can be left at the givers house to be played with over there. Since we will not be going to Germany anytime soon, I guess these will have to stay.

The soccer balls are a great hit. Hit is the word here. Hit each other, hit the window, ... you get the idea. We have been having fun playing with them.

And I got some great gifts too. Now what should I send back???

Happy Belated Anniversary

I saw that Harvey was celebrating his anniversary. And that was when I realized why my hubby gave me a funny look this morning when I kissed him and wished him a happy anniversary this morning... I was a day late.

We married April 8th, 2000. It was on April 8th only because he convinced me we shouldn't be married on April Fool's Day. But to this day I wished I had played "Brick House" as I walked down the aisle as he suggested.

We have been through a lot together and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Happy Belated Anniversary to the Best Man in my Life.

Just a quick post. I wasn't here last night to write anything... I was at the airport. Yep, my friend's girl made it in last night. She is beautiful. Now I'm going to worry about the boys in the neighborhood. Sigh.

More blog fodder. I can see it coming your way.

How Long Do Boiled Eggs Last?

I should not admit this on my blog... but I just ate a 2 day old Boiled egg and THEN thought about the consequences. Anyone know how long a boiled egg will last in 78degrees or cooler?

Since I'm not sick - yet... I'm guessing 2 days is acceptable. But I am curious as to the real answer. Any one?

The Poopie Story

It all started with a car like this:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

= = = = =

Not that exact car, as ours is missing in action. And has a lot more worn look to it. Wonder if Uncle J took it home?

I wasn't in the room when it started, but when I showed up.... they were holding this car over each others head and talking about poop. And hollaring to get it off as they didn't want poop on their heads. Each taking a turn doing this to the others in the room. Except Aunt B. For some reason she got left out. It may have been her willingness to be a victim and let them put the car on her head. Or just because Uncle J was much more expressive when it was done to him.

Either way, Uncle J, Dad and Tater were having a blast. Tot was laughing along with them, even if he wasn't really participating. I thought better of it and just left the room again.

Next thing I know, we are in the car going to the store and Tater is asking Uncle J to tell him a story. Right now we are into Pirate stories. Tater will pretty much tell you the story he wants you to tell him. Uncle J had a different idea and wanted to tell him a "Poopie" story. Just to help you out, Uncle J should have been an actor. His facial expressions, body language and voice can make you laugh at just about anything. Add to that a 3 year old and the laughter is infectious.

Tater decided that it should be a Pirate story... hence it became the Poopie Pirate story. I think the actual story is 5 lines. But the ability for Uncle J to get us all to laugh at it was great. And now I am asked when Uncle J is going to be back to tell us another Poopie story. Yes folks, I convinced my kids that only Uncle J could tell those stories. Not mom. Phew.

Oh, the story? It went something like this (with much laughter):

There were two pirates... Goof and Ball... the brother goofballs. They were on a pirate ship. Goof had to go the bathroom. There wasn't one, so he went on the ship. The poopie pirate ship.

The end. Now keep in mind I was laughing so hard, I'm not sure if I have the story right. The kids faces just were too much!

Now all I hear about is Poopie. Oh yes, I am thinking this might be better than farts.. but not much.

Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

Bubby & Earl are fishing and sipping beer when Bubba suddenly says..."I'm thinking of divorcing my wife...she hasn't spoken to me in six months."

Earl looks at his friend...takes a sip of his beer and after a moment or two says... "You better think it over....women like that are hard to find."

Ocassionally, a Happy Dog loves cat humor...

A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park.

As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway.

The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home.

Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!

He kept taking the cat further and further and the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.

Hours later the man calls home to his wife: "Jen, is the cat there?"

"Yes", the wife answers, "why do you ask?"

Frustrated, the man answered, "Put that son of a b.tch on the phone, I'm lost and need directions!"

First Barber Haircut

Before all the sickness got started, Tater had gotten his first Barber haircut. Here are some pictures of that cutie... (and his brother who just kept getting right beside him). As always, click to enlarge the picture.

Croup and Fevers

Tater started with a sinus infection, then got croup and now has a cold. He has been running a fever of over 103 for 3 out of 5 nights. Needless to say, it has been a long week... Tot is following in his footsteps. I was amazed that I had forgotten how kids got croup. I found THIS ARTICLE and took a piece out for you:

How do you get croup?

The virus can either be transferred through airborne droplets produced by coughing and sneezing, or passed from one person to another by touch. From the hands, the virus may enter the mucous membrane of the eyes and nose.

Croup is usually caused by the parainfluenza virus, although there are many other possible viral causes. These include the RS virus, influenza virus type A, rhinovirus, adenovirus, and Coxsackie virus.

If a child has had croup before, it tends to recur when they have a cold. After the age of four to five years, these symptoms decrease in severity.

There may be an allergic element connected to the parainfluenza virus.

It has been a long week and it looks like we have a couple of more days for Tater to finish it up and Tot probably has a couple more past that. Now if Mom can just keep from catching the cold. ;-)

ER Visit Number 2

Went to ER this morning with Tot. Oh yaaa. It has been a fun weekend. Going to the Doctor at 10am with Tater and Tot. Tater's fever just won't go away. And he sounds worse today. 2, 4, 6, 8... 8 hours sleep in 3 nights. Taaa Daaaa... I will function. Luckily I have had help. But posting might be a little strange. Something about being sleep deprived does that to you.

Have some fun stories, but right now I'm dealing with 2 sick kids. I just have to remember to write up about the Poopie stories that Uncle J told the boys. Oh yaa... I'm going to hear about this for weeks.

Been a Little Busy

Seems one can't sick without the other following quickly behind. It has been a long couple of days. And this time I am happy to have company. They have been doing dishes, picking up stuff and entertaining one kid while I medicate the other. Wish I could figure out how to keep them here a little longer! I even got a 45 minute nap in today... considering the overall sleep index has been about 5 hours in 48...

Something to keep you entertained over the weekend. Blame this on Mausi over at The Gray Monk.

Adventure #2 of Super Pickle Boy

Super Pickle Boy has discovered the best way to get attention in the Emergency Room. Cough. A nice Croupy cough. It was amazing how quickly they got us to the back. It might have been that his oxygen to blood level was getting low as well. Luckily we caught it fairly quickly. We only had to stay part of the night. We got to leave at 1:30am when he was able to breathe better and his oxygen level was back up.

He showed his super powers through out it all. Everything the nurse or doctor asked him to do, he did without flinching. He even said please and thank you. I was amazed and proud and just about in tears. What a boy… what a super Pickle boy!

We are home and exhausted. Unlucky for us, Tot got a great night sleep and is full of P&V (Piss and Vinegar). Tot is learning that “inside Voice” is very important today. Ahhhh… and the sister-in-law and hubby arrive today. Yep, it’s going to be entertaining.

Let’s hope everyone can keep their sense of humor. Ok, let’s just hope Mom can keep her sense of humor.

Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

TO: GOD
FROM: THE DOG
Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?
Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?
Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride. Would it be so hard to rename the "Chrysler Eagle" the "Chrysler Beagle"?
Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers , scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.

1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.
3 I will not munch on "leftovers" in the kitty litter box, although they are tasty.
4. The diaper pail is not a cookie jar.
5. The sofa is not a 'face towel'. Neither are Mom and Dad's laps.
6. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
7. My head does not belong in the refrigerator.
8. I will not bite the officer' s hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and registration.
9. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
10. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".
11. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
12. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.
13. I will not throw up in the car.
14. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.
15. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch when we have company.
16. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

And, finally, My last question...
Dear God: Why do humans only have 10 Commandments and dogs have 16?

After the service, his cousin asked him, "How many women can a man marry?"

"Sixteen," the boy responded. His cousin was amazed that he had an answer so quickly.

"How do you know that?"

"Easy," the little boy said. "All you have to do is add it up, like the Bishop said, 4 better, 4 worse, 4 richer, 4 poorer."

After a church service on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, "Mom, I've decided to become a minister when I grow up."

"That's okay with us, but what made you decide that?"

"Well," said the little boy, "I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it will be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit and listen."

Must Eat Os
