My mom said something to me about Ivan almost being a tornado with 165mph winds. So I went and looked up tornadoes.
From http://www.noaa.gov/tornadoes.html
Category F1: Moderate Damage (73-112 mph); Peels surface off roofs; mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned; moving autos blown off road.
Category F2: Considerable Damage (113-157 mph); Roofs torn off frame houses; mobile homes demolished; boxcars overturned; large trees snapped or uprooted; light-object missiles generated; cars lifted off ground.
Category F3: Severe Damage (158- 206 mph); Roofs and some walls torn off well-constructed houses, trains overturned; most trees in forest uprooted; heavy cars lifted off ground and thrown.
Ok, this makes Ivan a Category F3 Tornado. Trains overturned. Heavy cars lifted off the ground and thrown. Hmmm. And hurricanes have a tendency to last longer, have a bigger eye and spawn tornadoes. Though I do not think Ivan is going to hit the east coast of Florida, I do keep an eye on it. I have friends and family throughout Florida and do not wish any of them to have to deal with a hurricane of this size and intensity. Hopefully it will get into the Gulf and just become a tropical storm and go away. Though I don’t think that will happen, I just had to post information on how dangerous this storm will be for wherever it decides to land. Keep informed!
